FOCUSED STUDIES OF NATURE IN A UNIQUE COMBINATION OF GOUACHE & PENCIL

SOME THOUGHTS
ABOUT MY WORK AND ABOUT ART SHOWS
I am very fortunate
I spend my time doing something I love.  The beauty and diversity of this world is fascinating to me and exploring it is part of my job.   I travel to exhibit at art fairs and I’ve become part gypsy from forty years of being on the road.  I would be unhappy now without roaming time.

A lot of satisfaction comes from meeting the people who buy my work and seeing how they respond to it.  One person may spend a long time standing in front of my great blue heron, and tell me about canoe trips and the big elegant herons they scared up as they went downriver.  Another tells me about  a hummingbird with his bill stuck in their window screen and how she gently pushed it out from the other side to free it.  One fella snagged a pelican while fishing and walked it, like a dog on a leash, along the pier to find help.  Often someone will tell me how much their mother or father loved a certain bird and having my painting of that bird makes them feel like that lost parent is still close.

We all have stories to share and I love to listen.  Then there’s the people with my work in their homes who come back to the art show and tell me how much the piece has enriched their lives.  They look at it every day and it gives them a feeling of peace.
This is all good……
